Real Realtime

WHY ARE TRANSLATION RATES SO IMPORTANT?

In real estate, it's "location, location location."  For court reporters, it's "translation, translation, translation."   From the very first day of reporting school, court reporters measure the quality of their output by what's called a "translation rate," or the percentage of words they write that translate correctly into clearly readable English words.  "Untranslates" are those "hieroglyphics" you struggle to read in a transcript.

Because realtime is the immediate translation of the spoken word into English ... and not just English words, but the CORRECT English words ... it's critical that the realtime reporter write it right the first time, every time.  What does this mean for you?  It only makes sense that if you're going to use realtime that you insist on realtime you can read.  Asking for "a 99% writer" will get you a reporter with the basic fundamental writing skills necessary to provide realtime you can really use!
